Dr. Abu Sayeed M Ahmed is the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Science and Design, University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka-Bangladesh. He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka and obtained Master’s and Doctorate degree in Architecture from University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He authored several books including ‘’ Mosque Architecture of Bangladesh (UNESCO 2008)’’, ‘’Choto Sona Mosque at Gaur: An example of early Islamic architecture of Bengal (Germany 2007)’’ and ‘’Unfolding the Past: Conservation of Baro Sarder Bari at Sonargaon’’ (Dhaka 2016) and edited ARCASIA Heritage Book: Volume I and II in 2010. He received UIA-Baku award for the best Publication category in 2019.

Architect Ahmed’s professional experience involves architectural works in Bangladesh, as well as in Germany, where he was involved in the design of various projects. His conservation related works include his role as National Consultant (Architecture) by UNESCO for capacity building and training for management of World Heritage Site in Bangladesh, while currently he is engaged with several restoration projects in Bangladesh. He is actively involved in the Heritage protection and preservation movement in Bangladesh. Ar. Ahmed is the member of UIA Heritage Working Committee Region IV (Asia Oceania). As validation team member of Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) he participated several accreditation visits in Cape town and Johannesburg university in South Africa.

Prof Ahmed was the Chairman for ARCASIA committee for Architectural Education (ACAE) for the tenure 2011-2012, Vice president of ARCASIA Zone A (2017-18) and President (elect) of ARCASIA (2019-21).  He served as the President of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) for two consecutive terms (2013-14 and 2015-16).
