Manfred Yuen

    GROUNDWORK

    Manfred is the founder of Groundwork, London (2007) and the founder of GROUNDWORK Hong Kong (2011) and Shenzhen office (2019).  Apart from his practice, Manfred served as a visiting lecturer at the Kingston University, London and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, teaching architecture design and history.

    Prior to the founding of GROUNDWORK, Manfred received his architectural training from the University of Hong Kong (with first class honors) and the University of Cambridge. Manfred had worked with Pentagram Design (London), Coop-Himmelb(l)au, Vienna, where he was responsible for their operations in China.

    Some of his notable awards include the “40-under-40 Design Talents/Asia” (2011) ” The Next Generation Architects, Backstage Architecture, Italy” (2010), and the 40 under 40 FA Emerging Chinese Architects (2019). Manfred is also the recipient of the Spirit of Hong Kong 2013 Award, an award that recognizes the achievements of remarkable Hong Kong people who make our city a better place.

    In 2019, Manfred was invited to give a TEDX talk at Shenzhen advocating humanistic and socially responsible architecture.
